Help on choosing a motherboard?

I need the top 10 motherboards for an i5 2500k processor. Going for 8gb of RAM and I'm not sure which motherboard is compatible. I'd prefer links to Newegg.com and thanks!

Also, is a pro AMD desktop or a pro Intel desktop better? I've heard great things about both but I need the final call! Thanks!!

Depends on you budget but I nearly always recommend this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544&Tpk=GA-Z77X-UD3h

Compatibilty depends on which socket you're building to. The motherboard I linked is socket 1155, so you'll need a socket 1155 CPU as well.

AMD is cheaper, Intel is better.

Ahhh, I see. So basically I'd have to check if the MoBo is socket 1155?

And since AMD is cheaper and Intel is better, is it a huge gap in terms of value?

Pro Intel will be faster.

^ This - UD3H is such an awesome board. :)

Yes you need a Socket 1155 motherboard, chipset doesn't matter too much, but you'd need to probably update the BIOS on that Z77 board before you install that Sandy Bridge chip.

By the way I replied to your build thread.

this is a really great board.
ASUS Maximus V Formula/ThunderFX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
for reliability sake, i always go with ASUS and it never failed on me.
