Help on fixing my computer, monitor screen is blank

There is talk that putting a hard drive in a freezer over night some times brings it back to life (in a sealed container of course). Though I don't know how much I believe that. You should look it up. Otherwise it sounds like your hard drive is dead. A specialist may be able to extract the information from it, but that would probably cost more than it's worth.
 
It's mechanical. Depending on the quality of the particular hard drive in question it can have a life Span of anywhere between a week to several years.

Besides the fans, the hard drive is the only component in a pc that never stops moving while the pc is on. It's just like, in a car, you'll have to replace the belts in the engine several more times than say, the brake lines, cause the belts move and wear down.
