I have recently started shopping for a new computer tower and have narrowed it down to two rigs. I would appreciate any feedback and advice on which one to buy.

Intel i3 540 Dual Core Processor 3.06GHz
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024MB Video Card
4GB (2x2GB) DDR3
Asus P7H55M Motherboard
1TB SATA II Hard Drive
DVD-RW Drive
Coolermaster CM690 Dominator + Coolermaster 550W GX PSU

----------------------------------------£460----------------------------------------------------

OR

Intel i5 760 Quad Core Processor 2.8GHz 8mb L3 Cache
GeForce GTX260 1GB Video Card
4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 Memory
Asrock H55-M Pro (Skt 1156) Motherboard
500GB SATA II Hard Drive
DVD-RW Drive
ATX Case + 650w PSU

--------------------------------------£480------------------------------------------------------

I'd go with the first, cheaper build, and add a Quad Core later.

Better graphics card, more storage, name brand case and power supply...

The first PC has better quality parts (Asus board, video etc). Personally, I'd spend a bit more and put the i5 760 chip in 1st system and buy that.

I bought some parts last week:

Intel Core i5-760 @3.4 (no over-volt)
ZALMAN CNPS10X
ASUS P7P55D-E
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) (F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH)
Radeon 5850 (Already Owned)

I couldn't be happier, its super snappy and was relatively cheap.

You have to be careful when buying Intel LGA 1156 boards...if you buy one that advertises SATA 6GB/s or USB 3.0 it drops the graphics to 8x to do so because the chipset technically does not support it and it uses lanes from the graphics card to do so.

The board I suggested supports true SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0 by using a chip from PLX Technology.

IMO, ASUS makes some of the BEST motherboards out there, very solid, reliable and quality product. I also really perfer Antec PSU and cases...so quiet and cool....ooo

The second would be faster, but the GPU is outdated. Are you building yourself?
550W PSU is overkill for the first.
