Help on new purchase

I may go with Vista, so long as it's upgradable to Windows 7. I would also like a regular size case as I plan on adding a Blu-Ray burner. They also seem to be a bit longer then regular DVD burners.

I'd recommend self build, for number of reasons.
HP, Dell etc use cheap hard drives, cheap RAM, cheap mobos, cheap PSU's and the list goes on. To play blu rays you'd need solid graphics card and no intergrated video.
Just say whether you are confident that you could pull it through, the build process I mean.

Not too confindent at all... I mean, I didn't even use CPU correctly! lol

For a very solid new build, I would pay $500 for the entire system and pay extra for someone to put it all together for me. I do not want to give a price as to how much I would give that person, because this is the first time I have concidered this and do not want to be embarrassed by high or low balling someone.

I don't stay in USA so you'd have to get someone from USA to build it for you for a little cash. I am 100% sure that you will be glad that you didn't buy pre build system.

Thank you very much for all your help!

With that, do I have anyone that would like to earn a few bucks building a PC for me? It would be great if you lived in the Houston area, but I could get it shipped to me.

HP uses Asus motherboards.

Definitely stay away from Dell.
Doesnt mean a whole lot when Asus makes the boards for alot of manufacturers, HP also uses foxconn boards in their products, as well as dell uses asus boards in some of their products. Also dell's support from what ive heard is really crappy so take that with a grain of salt(i dont deal with OEM's "support").
