HELP !! only one screen resolution

I just built a new computer. I installed the video card and monitor drivers but still I only get one option - 800x600 pixels, color quality lowest ( 4 bit ).

My video card is a evga 8800gt 512mb and my monitor is a Samsung widescreen lcd 22in.
 
On my laptop, when I uninstalled my graphics card drivers, I could only be at the lowest resolution. Have you recently uninstalled drivers or are you missing drivers?
 
It sounds like you are only running on the standard vga drivers in Windows and didn't see the full install of the software and drivers for the card. Try running the installer for the software disk and select repair or remove which will likely see a system restart. Then run the installer for a repeat install to see if everything will then go on.
 
You likely only saw a portion of this and a portion of that actually go on and the drivers were never made active by Windows. That's a common problem when an installer doesn't work properly the first and second time and everything needs to be repeated. But you know your card is working good with the correction.
