So with my birth day coming up, i decided to buy myself a computer :)
i have never done anything like this before so help me out.

Any suggestions on parts i should buy? i live in canada, i want a monitor, os and everything included. Try to keep it under $1000 after shipping and tax.

I coud also buy pre-builts if there are any good deals

What do you plan to do with the computer? Gaming? also are you looking for the top of the line parts, or will mid range do?

I will mostly be doing regular stuff like music, multitasking and gaming. I just want a comp that will last 1-2years and play modern games well at mid-high settings. :)

Thx man, is there any way to get windows 7 cheap?
There is a deal if you are a college student where you can get Win 7 for I think 29.99 but I couldn't find the link to it.

Will ddr3 be a big difference from ddr2? if not should i get this instead: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.356930
DDR2 is still good but I would highly recommend getting DDR3. Just because you will have better performance. The extra money is well worth it.

Would this processor be enough?-> http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103724
That will save me some money but im not sure about performance.
This will be a good cpu for your needs. There is a possibility with this one to unlock the 4th core to make it a quad core. Great for the money

Looks fine to me.

i was thinking this power supply -> http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182185

and this case -> http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153

Is rosewill a good brand? both these items have pretty decent reviews

Also whats the difference between this-> http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150462
and this -> http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161317&cm_re=5770-_-14-161-317-_-Product

And if the college deal is true, i might have another 70 bucks to work with :P

XFX has a lifetime warranty. I would suggest it over the HIS.

Case is your decision, it really doesn't matter much.

Not sure about the power supply. Not sure how much power we need. Anyone help us out on that?

Current build looks like:

Thx for telling me that :P
is everything compatible? do i need anything else? it looks like a pretty decent system :)

I'm not sure about the X3 processor. You don't want to skimp on the processor much, if at all. Personally, I'd go back to your quad core you had selected earlier. That would last longer for you than the tri core you have selected now.
