Help Please. Disk drive will not read DVD-Rs.

Hello,
My computer will not read Blank DVD-Rs. I used to be able to burn movies no problem then suddenly my computer will not read blank DVD-Rs. My firmware is up to date. I have a Lenovo laptop. Vista Home Edition. Any Ideas?

Try a plain old DVD movie to see if it detects that. You may have a bad drive (happens sometimes) I had one in a R52 lappy http://www.computerforum.com/177553-ibm-dvd-read-error.html (so long ago).

What does it do when you try and get it to read the DVD-R? Does it just not see it, or what?

Go to control panel and find the controller that the DVD drive is on, not the DVD drive itself but the controller. Right click on it and click uninstall. Reboot the computer and see if the problem is still there.
