Help Please...urgent

My friend just put together his pc. we were trying to boot up for the first time and it didnt work. the fans started to spin, the lights flashed on for about a half a second but then stopped. i also noticed that when the power supply switch is switched to on, theres a yellow light on the mobo. i always seem to remember a green light. help please. thanks

I would check all your connections. Make sure they are connected where there supposed to be connected.

ok well we changed out the power supply and it worked. so it was the power supply. that sux.

Thats cool it was something as simple, and sometimes inexpensive as a power supply. I just had a power supply go bad on a personal machine of mine two weeks ago.

help again.

it seems our troubles are just beginning. when trying to install xp pro, this installation freezes. i seem to remember that xp needed some special driver or hotfix to be able to use a dual core processor. o, by the way, hes got and x2 3800. am i correct? i was gonna put my 3700 in there and see if that will work till we can get the driver installed.
