I downloaded this program called EVEREST to find out what's inside my box.
Here's what i found:

Intel D945GTP- I am assuming this is my motherboard, anyone here use it? Is is a decent board? Is it OC friendly?

Intel Pentium 4 524, 3066 MHz (23 x 133)- I am assuming this is my CPU, is it okay or can it be upgraded for cheap? A few years ago when i bought this pc i think the sales guy told me that it was dual core support, but not dual core processor or something of that nature.

420w PSU.

250G 7200rpm HD.

How do i find out haw much ram i have? I see a bunch of numbers when i check the memory.

What else do i need to know? (or do you need to know i should say) I just need a little help so i know what i have here and if can be upgraded for relatively cheap.

Edit: I am reading as much as i can, i am new to this and it's alot to take in. Sorry if i sound like a noob.

What Operating System are you running? If its XP Right clicking on my computer and going to properties will tell you how much RAM you have installed.

hold the start menu button on your keyboard and then hit pause... it will tell you how much ram you ha ve

Thanks guys. It says 3.07GHz,504MB of RAM.?

Everest says:
512 MB DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz)
Memory Bus 266.7 MHz
DRAM:FSB Ratio 8:4
What does all this this mean?

Do you have any answers for my other questions?

Anyone?

Can i get a better CPU and/or increase my RAM for relatively cheap price to make my computer better with the motherboard i have?

by the looks of it you are using an onboard graphics card. One thing I would definately suggest is to get a new graphics card for it as you are sharing the memory between the graphics card and PC. Other than that yes upgrading the RAM to 1GB would give a significant improvement

Should i get another 512MB stick like the one i got and install it so i have 2 512MB sticks?

Should I buy a 1GB stick and swap it out with the 512MB stick that's currently in there?

Would my computer benifit from having more then 1GB of ram or would that be a waste due to other bottle necks?

Intel Pentium 524????? That is not worth your time trying to overclock it, just use it and upgrade to a better machine.
