I am having trouble booting from a DVD with my new Gigabyte DS3L mobo. Its a Sata drive, I assume that is why I am having issues with it. I have the dvd drive set as the first boot device. Its also plugged into sata port 01. When it boots it says hit any key to boot from CD but no matter what I push nothing happens. It just boots the HDD. Another thing is if I pick the boot menu to try and boot from there. It won't allow me to select from the list or hit esc and exit from the boot menu. I have to manually reboot my pc. What is the issue? I know its probably something simple. Can anyone help?

Is there an OS on the computer? if so, does it recognize the Drive and allow it to funtion properly when inside the OS?

Did the drive come with a floppy to allow for SATA drivers to be used from BIOS?

Have you gone into BIOS to see if the drive is recognized and/or enabled as a boot device?

Hi,

It is possible your dvd drive is just not support by the SATA interface. SATA interface is still not perfect yet. Lot of support problems happen with optic drives.

Best Regard,

Thanks guys but I figured it out. I ended up doing an update on my bios in attempt to fix the issue. In which before I updated it I could have sworn that keyboard usb support was enabled. After I did an update it was no longer enabled. So I enabled it and now it works. Stupid simple crap always gets me.
