Are you using the real Windows Xp Cd? If so u shouldn't have any problems, but if your using a burnt cd. Your software might not be burning the image all the way.

It is and original cd from microsoft... I only have the sata hd in. And we have tired 3 differant cd's that are all spotless...

You should go into ur Bios and see if its finding your hard drive.

If you disble the Asus logo in the bios the drive should be seen during the post tests when powering your system up. A friend is stuck on a new build due to not getting XP to go on a sata that also was to be the single drive used there. We tried repeat downloads to prepare a few different working 3 1/2" floppies with the needed drivers on them. The bios readily saw the WD 200gb sata drive while the XP installer(disk included SP2) browsed for the floppy with the drivers yet failed to see the drive on the SATA 1 primary. The references found when submitting a support ticket direct to Western Digital were on the links posted on the other thread. This is why you may want to go to the support section at WD direct to look over their knowledge base. In a day or so I should be getting a direct response from WD on this. But see if you can used the info there for now. If somebody more detailed info to use in getting these drives partitoned, formatted, and XPed add it in here.

Thanks for the help everyone. Still not worknig. The hard drive is working and the windows cd can see the hard drive but it just gets a bunch of errors on it when we try and install windows. My dad went to WD's site and looked a bunch of stuff up but still no luck.

We are just thinking about puting his SCSI's into his new system thats in his old system now. But keep the info flowing if you can.

Thanks for all your help guys..

OMG!!! Death to Cosair! Ok i was thinking it was a conflict with something so i started to pull stuff out and replace it with other differant stuff and when i got the the memory (the last thing to be checked) it worked.. That sucks.

Well thanks for all the help guys...
