hi i have a nvidea 6800gt and its idle temp is 66c and when im playing oblivian it goes up to 85c do you think these temps are ok it does say core threshhold is 120 c please advise

they're just fine. they may effect some life of the card, however it won't effect it enough because you'll want to upgrade by the time the card wears out.
you may want to look into cooling solutions such as nv silencer, but research it for a few weeks before you do anything, you wouldn't want to mess it up.

My friends does the same also and he has them in SLI..

6800gt's just run extremely hot.

Unless you want to but aftermarket cooling..

Dont forget the threshold is 128*c
The threshold for some reason is always set way too high. Mine is 135 degrees. If it reached that temperature, the GPU would probably melt hehe.

Anything up to 90 degrees should be alright, after that you may find artifacts start appearing.

It also depends how small your case is bacause if it´s small (MIDI or MINI case) then temps tend to grow up... also if you have poor airflof/cooling in it.. mine runs from 45 degrees in idle to 65 degrees in 100% use... But Im having better cooler than yours..

My friend however has same cooler as you and he is getting 55 degrees to 80 degrees and that´s same as yours... So that´s normal.. I assume your room is pretty hot as well..

lol i have an arctic cooler... the nv silencer
my temps never even hit 50 in full load lol.. i'll have to check that when i get home... but it idles really low like 40tops depending on room temps

my gpu runs nowhere near that.

the 6600GT is known to run hot, my friend who use to have one got his up to 90C while playing games.

Thats funny, mine never goes above 60 while playing games, and 70 while using the artifact test using ATI Tool

Yo! My room is hot man. :) I have like 27 degrees sometimes because heat is on... Sure that NV silencer is better than my 2 fan cooler cause it moves all that air out of case and all.. And remember that your 7800gt runs much cooler becaus it comsumps less power... But sure my card runs at 40 degerees if it happens to be 20 degrees or below it in my room and in full load it runs 55 degrees.. But that´s just when my room temp is low...
