Help! Problem with ATI x800pro and Windows XP SP 1

Is anyone familiar with any conflicts between Windows XP Service Pack 1 and the ATI x800pro video card? Every time I attempt to install SP1, I reboot and all I get is my desktop without any icons or task bar. WHen I reboot in safe mood I have all icons and task bar. I am afraid it is a conflict with my video card. What can or should I do???? Or maybe I've got it all wrong and it is something else.....any help would be greatly appreciated!! :confused:

Did you install SP1 before the video drivers? I run SP1 (slipstreamed) and when i tried out the X800Pro back in the summer i didnt have any problems
 
No I already had the video card installed then attempted to install SP1. So are you saying I should uninstall video card then install SP1 and then video card?

SP1 should be the first thing you install after the fresh installation, then DX9c and then mobo/video/sound etc drivers :) (or try that at least)
