Help Resizing a Partition in G-Parted

Hello, I recently tried to use G-parted to modify the partition size on my hard drive so I can clone the 232 gigabyte drive to a smaller 142 gigabyte hard drive. G-parted does not work with my monitor to give me a graphic user interface.

I am presently using this video card: Asus ATI Radeon HD4670 1 gigabyte 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
Item model number: EAH4670/DI/1GD3/V2

My monitor has the following specifications:
HP S2031 Liquid Crystal Display Monitor 20 inch

Anyone know of free program that I can use to resize a partition in Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit?
 
When booting Gparted, just change the graphic settings when it asks the questions before the loading. Change it to something like 1024x768 at 16-bit color depth with a 60Hz refresh rate.
 
I tried the settings you suggested and tried a few others with no success. G-parted crashes with an error code that says no screen found. I will copy the error code. Give me several minutes.
 
A new update. I got G-Parted to work by using the VESA driver option instead of ATI drivers. I am not able to resize the partition though because G-Parted is saying I need run CheckDisk on the partition I am trying to shrink.

Hmm....try running Chkdsk then try and shrink it.
 
I ran Checkdisk and it seems to have fixed the errors on the New Technology Filing System volume that I had. G-parted was successful in shrinking my partition from 232 gigabytes to 139 gigabytes. Thanks for the advice and help.

I am going to try cloning the 139 gigabyte volume to another hard drive soon using Norton Ghost Version 15.

If it had you run Checkdisk there may be something with your drive. I'd run your manufacturer diag tool and make sure there are no drive errors.
