well i bought a fujitsu 15,000rpm hard drive with the intentions of using a pci scsi controller!

i bought the card of amazon and asked the questions "will it fit into pci slot" to which he said yes.

well it fits but it seems like the card is ment for a bigger slot pci-x.

i did not pay much for the card so its no great dissapointment if its not going to work.

I do believe we found your problem ;)
This is the guide for your controller, check page 24: http://download.adaptec.com/pdfs/installation_guides/2120s_2200s_ig.pdf

Termination in general: http://www.scsita.org/aboutscsi/SCSI_Termination_Tutorial.html

I do not believe your drive is self terminating so you will need to buy a terminator, something like this one: http://www.spire.co.uk/product_deta...ACTIVE SCSI LVD TERMINATOR 68 PIN&show_menu=2

well there is this attatched to the ribbon

it has the following printed on "ULTRA-2 LVD/SE"

now in all honesty it means nothing to me when i research it on google so is this what i need or do i still need a terminator?

thanx for your help i really appreciate it

Looks like a terminator to me.

Make sure you have the SCSI controller set to auto terminate as wel. It should be by default but it may have been changed before you got it. To check the device BIOS settings press Ctrl-A when you see the adaptec message when booting your system.
