I am building a desktop computer for my Grandma. The one she has now is just barely running. she mostly uses a computer for office type stuff, a lot of printing, browsing the net, righting text documents, etc. We are just going to use the monitor, speakers and mouse/keyboard that she has already.

So here is what iv'e get together, I would like any suggestions on if this is a good build or not and if everything will go together nicely. I would like to keep the total price under 450. Also, she wants something somewhat fast. Thank you

Thanks the reply's all.

@diduknowthat
Yeah the reason I chose the mid tower case is that I thought it would keep everything cooler. She keeps here house pretty warm inside. but do you think that micro case would pretty much be the same?

@StrangleHold
hmm I might do that. But that's probably way to much space for here, she has a 15gb drive now and I dont think she will ever fill that up.

(edit)
What about this?

You aren't using high powered components so cooling will not be an issue. I would recommend getting 2 high quality fans for the case, it'll keep things cool and quiet.

do I have to get a AM3+ for the processor I chose?

Yeah I looked at that PSU, I might switch to that one. Cant really go wrong with Corsair.

Ill think about the ram... I doubt she will need 4gb though.

I think the case that diduknowthat suggested will be perfect.

Thanks!

No you don't have to, but it works and it's the latest socket, newer tech. If the processor's ever changed or upgraded it would matter.
For a couple bucks on the memory,,might as well. 7 x64 will like her better it.
Also, she wants something somewhat fast.
ill just go with the original hard drive I picked out.
The blues are usually used for data storage since they're a bit slower than mainstream system drives.

Get this processor. It is a triple-core processor and it is only $15 more. It will give more processing power compared to a dual-core. Obviously the person doesn't need the processing power now, but give it two or three more years and she may need it. It will work with Socket AM3 motherboards.

AMD Athlon II 445 Rana (3.1 gigahertz) Triple-Core Socket AM3 Processor - $75

@Benny Boy
Ok thanks! I didn't see that ram before, yeah I think that will work better.

@2048Megabytes
I think the Athlon II X2 255 will work just fine for her. I was really trying to keep it under 400 bucks but im already at 440.

@jonnyp11
Id rather build one for her, thanks though.

well yeah i know it's better and all, but saw that and it's a pretty good price so i thought i'd tell ya.

Yeah, I will keep them in mind.

Well I think my list is finished, we will be ordering it this Saturday. Ill be sure and post here if I have any problems putting it together.

Thanks for all your help everyone!
