HELP!! serial to parallel adapter

on my pc i only have a serial/com port not a parallel port for my project i need a parallel port so i bought a serial to parallel now everything is connected but my project software has options for only lpt1 or lpt2
when i go into device manager i go to ports then port setings and with the adapter connected only have com port option 1 to 256 i need that changed to lpt1 or lpt2 please help ive been trying to do this for weeks

Just get a parallel port pci card. They are under $10 and sometimes under $5. For the time and money you would spend trying to get an adapter you might as well just get the pci card. Let me guess, you doing an external lcd or something?
 
well when i say pc i meant laptop srry bout that so i cant really get a pci card i have every thing but i need help basically i am trying to flash my xecuter2.1pro chip for xbox but to flash it has got a parallel port on the xbox i ran a parallel cable from there into a parallel to serial adapter then into laptop but on the x2flasher program its supposed to detect the xbox but in device manager the com port setting with the adater attached still appear to be com port not parallel you can change the port number but thats for com not parralel cheers jono
