Help speed up my connection please!!!!!!!!

HI guys,
I currently am using charter cable, i run at 100 mbps, and download at 45k max, I was wondering if any1 knows how to speed this up considerably???? Anything will help!!!:o
 
You connection to what, exactly? Your browser? You can speed up firefox by enabling pipelining:

That is, if you use firefox(hope you aren't using Internet Explorer, that thing has too many bugs). There are programs out there that claim to boost your overall internet speed, but I don't trust them at all. You could try clearing your browser cache/temp files/cookies/history daily(might help some).

No internet connection runs at 100 mbps, just becuase your network connection shows that doesn't mean that is what it is running at, for example take a look at a firewire connection if it shows up in your network connection, mine says 400mpbs, but its not even hooked up to anything. Your internet is running at probably 4 to 5 mbps depending on your internet provider, and download speeds are affected by loads of things, like you can download the exact same file from 1 site with lets say like 100kbps and the same file from another site at only 15kbps, it depends on lots of factors, your internet connection speed, the server you are downloading it from, etc...
 
100Mbit is your LAN speed, yet there are internet connections which are more than 100Mbps, you either have a 512 Kbit or a 384 Kbit internet connection. These are the theoretical speeds (512/8=64) (384/8=48), however, you will rarely see that you are downloading something at full speed, I had both of these connections and with 512 Kbit I downloaded ~55KB/s and with 384 Kbit ~40KB/s, now I have 1Mbit and downloading ~110KB/s(theoretical speed 128 KB/s). It will never reach the full bandwidth.
 
As others have said you do not have 100mbps nor are you connected to the internet at that speed, That is your LAN speed and conection to your router.


What internet plan do you have?
 
I have a plan with charter(cable), besides that im not sure my mother ordered it, umm yea i was definately wrong about my internet speed, but im still wondering is there a sure way to speed up your connection

Ya sure, talk to your ISP about speeding up your internet and they will send you a bill.

You can't increase the bandwidth of your internet connection, only your ISP can, if it's not at the limit already, only thing you can do is speed up your internet to use let's say around 95% of your available bandwith, couse as I said it's impossible to use the whole bandwidth. Get it?
 
yea, well im not the one paying the bills, and i dont think my parents are happy with the current bill, guess ill just have to deal with it.
