Help this dumb woman set up her PC

I have wireless internet that is hardwired into my office. Wire comes from outside radio/tower through office wall and cable is connected to a D-Link switch. Another cable is connected at the switch to my PC. Another cable connected to sister's PC to the switch. I work at home and now my company wants us to use company PCs. I have about 3-4 empty slots in the switch...do I connect a cable to the switch to the new PC? I don't know what to call the cable in order to purchase one.

Yes and ethernet.

(just to save you asking, yes, plug an ETHERNET cable from the switch to your "new" PC).

Oh, forgot to say, calling the cable something like Fred or Margaret wont work. All cables are known by them names

Yeah, it's called an Ethernet cable. 8 pins, looks like a fat phone cord connector.

And make sure is straight through Cat. 5 cable and not cross link cable.LOL
