kind of a newb to computers. i dont even know if this is the right area to post. i have a laptop running vista and the batery wont charge but everything else works fine. i just bought a new laptop which runs windows 7 and now i want to transfer all the files from the old one to the new one. the only problem is that the battery has no more power so the old laptop wont turn on. is there a way to transfer the data through the usb port eventhough i cant turn one of them on? or do i have to open up the old computer inside and take out the hard drive? i heard of something called "Easy transfer cables", will that help? any info would be appreciated. Can't you plug in the Vista computer and turn it on? Easy Transfer cables aren't going to work, nothing will work unless the computer on, or you take out the HD and get a dock or USB adapter for it so you can hook it up and navigate to your user acoount folder and get your stuff.
