At the OS choices menu, I am being presented with two options to either boot to Windows XP Instalation, or to Windows XP Proffesional. Because by defult the Instalation choice is highlited, the computer is automatically booting to the instalation.

Is there anyway to remove this menu so the computer boots straight to Windows XP Pro?

Thanks in advance

Adam

go to my computers > system properties > advanced > startup and recovery settings

You can either change the default operating system
Or you can edit the boot file

Are you saying that you have both Vista and XP Pro editions installed or two installations of XP Pro there? Your sig lists Vista as the second OS. It sounds like XP Pro is the default from your description there. If XP Pro is on the first partition your "boot.ini" file should look like this for a default installation.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

You can use notepad easily or another text editor to make any changes there. But you first need to uncheck the "hide protected system files" option in the folder options found on Windows Explorer to make this visible. You then right click on it to uncheck the "hidden; read only" box seen in the properties. But the Windows default item there sounds more like RC1 was installed after XP and is the default OS since it then becomes the primary due to being a newer version. You can reverse the OS order there to have RC1 as an option instead of default. First backup the boot.ini file before making any changes however. Here's a look at the XP Pro default/RC1 optional boot.ini file.

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft window vista" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

You will note that the first version shown becomes the default. When pasting the letters separate.
