HELP!!!! User Profile Problem

Help please!!!!! I tried to logon this morning on my vista home premium PC and it logged on and it only had my computer and the recycle bin displayed and gave an error message about my profile having problems. I later restarted and then tried to log on and it denied me access to my account stating this message: "The user profile service Failed The Logon, User Profile Cannot Be Loaded" Can anyone help? I really need to get my 20GB of stuff back:(

Do you have a Vista retail Install Disc? Try to do a Repair using the Install disc.

If that doesn't work, you could move the hard drive to another computer and
backup your files that way.

I said REPAIR, not reinstall.

Put your disc in "as if" you were going to reinstall, and when prompted,
select the Repair Windows option.

It will keep your install intact, and hopefully resolve your issues.
 
dude, I just performed system restore and it's good news. Shall i still bother with the repair? All my stuff is here intact and I have successfully logged in. But when I did, when it displayed "welcome" you could hear the an vista error noise repear over and over until i saw my desktop appear. But apart from that, I think everything is fine :D

ahh, this has something to do with fiddling about with the registry....... I viewed it before but I really dont want to mess anything up. Just to let you know that the system restore has played havoc with my Norton 360. Its "unprotected" against threats and it came up with a pop up stating that it needs support. It always happens
