Help: video card not working in new PC - what shall I do?

OK, so I just bought a new Maxdata PC. Opened it up, plugged it in; all worked fine. So I decided to stick my X1600 graphics card in it and play a game. So I installed the software and the card, and now whatever graphics setting I choose to use (onboard or PCI-Express card) whenever it comes to the sign in screen, I click my username and nothing happens. It freezes, and then reboots.

Now can somebody help me with this problem? And how the hell do I get into safe mode? I at least want to boot back in with the on board graphics.

Cheers.

Have you placed it in properly? Take it out and make sure you fit it in properly.
What socket is it?

Problem is; this PC doesn't have a post screen, it bypasses it unless you choose to bring it up by pressing tab. And also, F10 brings up the safe mode menu on this machine. And it only seems to do it selectively.

maybe you don't have enough power from the PSU to power the Graphics Card, i had a similar problem and it was down to not enough power

Really? I doubt my problem is the same though - as when I revert back to the onboard graphics I get the same problem. I tried a system restore and that didn't work, so now I'm repairing Windows.

Any other suggestions?
