HELP! Want to create a website?

for a friend, i have question about making from scratch websites.
i want to use powerpoint or{and} frontpage. i want have animation and links. which is best?
can you give me step by step directions?

there are steps on those free domain sites ex. http://www.0catch.com, I suggest you use frontpage, powerpoint use lots of files for a single page, if you want animation use flash.

1. Dont use powerpoint, ever
2. Frontpage or Dreamweaver should be used
3. For animation, it really depends how much you want to go into it, Flash would be good if you can pull i off, if not then create some low quality gifs to get started.
4. This will not be an overnight job, it takes years to learn how to create decent looking websites
5. Using a professional miage editing program like Photoshop 7 or higher is a must, just make sure you know how to use it properly
6. A good site to brush up on the basics would be www.w3schools.com
7. Take you time and learn what your doing, that way you can use it again when/if you need to in the future

*EDIT* - I'm not sure what your current situation is with hosting and domain names but you will need a hosting package and at least 1 domain name to get started aswell, prices range from say £5-£15 for a domain (2years) and £20+ for the hosting (1year)

In USD its about $10-30 for the domain each year and $80+ for the hosting, note that the domain is registered for (usually) years and the hosting is registered only for one year, so you would have to doble the hosting cost get an accurate price for it all

on 1and1.com it's 6 bucks a year for a domain and 60 bucks for a year of hosting. I'd recommend giving that a look.
