What processor would be better for everyday use and gaming, i pretty much use my pc for everything.

AMD Athlon 64 3700
or an
Intel Pentium D 805
or an
AMD Athlon 64 4000

please dont recommend any other cpu's , just out of these 3 what one is better?

64 4000, if you are going to game, or intel if ur more application based, as all the new games released now are based and tested on AMD CPU

Athlon 4000...it's by far the best out of those. I think the 805 does a few applications more quickly, but the Athlons are faster over all...

Since the Pentium D 805 is dual core, will it be alot better for multitasking then the AMD?

Has anybody used both of these processors, with similar machine specs. To see how they compare.

pentiumD 805 is better than AMD in multitasking

AMD is better than PD 805 in gaming

And according to tomshardware, AMD 3700+ and 4000+ was better in audio coverting and photoshop

If you want to use your computer for gaming and If you use photoshop then get AMD

If you want to use your computer form multitasking and if you don't play heavy games then get Pentium D

whats up with the colours anyway?

:P

Purple , (edit) cool.. =D I think ill go use that color in every post now.. ^_^

AMD 64 4000+ will handle your games and will still multitask well, not as good as the Pentium, but more than sufficiently

EDIT: Didnt want to break the color chain, ha

I'd get the D 805 but that's because I find dual cores to be snappier in everyday use.

Arch- I use blue for much the same reasons. It's neat and not as boring as black. Plus my posts are easier for me to see and most everyone knows it's me right away! :D

Will the Pentium D be a good enough cpu for games like Far Cry, Gun, Doom 3, Call of Duty 2. Dont know if you consider that hardcore gaming or not.

Ok, since those are about the best games i play and all the cpu's will work fine with those games, and i multitask alot more then i play games i think will get the Pentium D 805...thanks for your help!!

Will the Pentium D 805 be good for the newer games coming out too, i'm not concerned about playing the games with the best quality settings just as long as it will play them. So is the Pentium D good enough to play the newer games too?
