Hey guys, I’ve got a problem with using my RAM … I used the thermal tape to attach my heatsink on it yet it’s still very hot. Sigh … seems like my cooler doesn’t cool down the RAM properly. My card was almost ruined when I tried to remove the heatsink. Please help !!! Is there something like a thermal pad that can resolve this problem?

The most optimal cooling for RAM is the heatsink that is on the RAM.. Did you over clock the RAM higher than it can handle? The heatsink's should be sufficient enough to cool the RAM. What model of RAM do you have?

And with proper airflow in your case, it should be plenty cool. How do you know its getting hot? Are you just touching it after it runs for a while? That doesn't really tell you anything. My video card gets up to 50c on load, so that is 122F, which would be very hot to the touch. As long as you're not having any problems, it should be fine.

But if it is a problem, they sell fans that place over your RAM, but this would only be effective if you have good airflow and the temp outside your computer is cool enough.

you should never need to cool your ram other than what comes with it, unless you live in like the sahara, as in high temps and humidity, otherwise the temps of pc parts can handle over 100 farenheit or 50 celcius.

Thanks for your detail advice! Now i am using the AMD HD 6970 with a non-stock cooler. I know the fan can solve my problem, but i am still looking for a product that can attach my heatsink on the the VGA RAM but not very sticky, because someone said when they are removing the heatsink, the RAM will peel off together, sound easy to damage my VGA board.

Just don't use any thermal adhesive and you'll be fine, the pads that come on RAM sinks and such will be sticky enough once the chip has been cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Once attached you should be able to hold the card by the sink without it falling off.

still love how i don't think he ever said the temps, and if he isn't too knowledgeable on this stuff he might just be getting normal temps like when people think 60's on a cpu under load seems too high.
