Help- Which Computer to Get

I want this computer for one thing - gaming.

I will be running Empire: Total War, and if any of you know this game, you know it is a system monster.
It will need atleast 3Ghz, 3 to 4 BG RAM, Up to date graphics card (preferably Nvidia), and cheapest price possible. Liquid cooling would be nice. Seperate parts or premade. I will be running XP or Windows 7.
Also all new parts.

Yes I am pretty sure, though i have never built my own before, following the guide on this site and help from a buddy with get me through.

And no this is starting fresh.

Edit: Um I do not know the prices on a computer like this but under 3k.

Well i guess it doesn't really matter.

BTW just to be sure which rig would you suggest.

Edit: Actually, looks like first has better specs for less price.

For gaming, either is good, amd would be a little cheaper though, and right now intel is in an iffy situation with sockets and whatnot, since when core i5 comes out intel might drop the lower priced core i7's, and the only upgrades would be $600+ cpu's, so i lean towards recommending amd rig's...

Also XP or Windows 7, instead of Vista. Anyways thanks for all the help.

Windows 7 jsut remember when it comes out you will need to totally reinstall your os(as this is just a release candidate at the moment), but totally stable(its the only os i use on my laptop and the desktop in sig..);)

since its priced well under 3k i would recommend getting the phenom II 955 and you can get 4890's for about 40-50 bucks cheaper without any performance drop just not a double lifetime warranty.

The XFX is the better one to buy, mainly for the resale value if you ever upgrade...

Actually it turns out my budget is just $1500, so could you please try and make it under that without cutting back anything? and you can also subtract the price of vista.

ok do you recommend any particular keyboard and display (with money in mind still)

That included within the $1500?

No since the total is already at $1484.78 (correct me if I'm wrong). Just a display that will do well with the capability of the computer.
and i don't really need any special gaming keyboards or mice, and wired is fine. Just compare the cheapest ones :P
