Hello
I'm a University studen. I use computer to many things: advanced 3Ddesign, Gaming (Doom3, FFXI, top performance games..), programming, designing websites, advanced video editing. I know desktop is best bet for me but I move alot University/Home/Friends home/Vacations...
Major: Computer engineer 1st year.

Budget around 1400-1800USD.
But I don't live on NA. So I'll be thankful if I got specifications rather than models name/number laptops because it might not be available on my country. Well, if you give me models I'll try to look for it.

I heared Pentium HT is better than Centrino/Mobile for 3D/Video stuffs. But the problem is Pentium is so expensive. Usually I see laptop 3000$+ which got that. So what you suggest?
What about graphic cards? INTEL 855 is it good? What good graphics card available?
I need help selecting RAM, Monitor .. etc.

Thank you for reading.

ur going to have to compensate between being able to play top performance games well and being able to be mobile with it.

Well it doesn't have to be, but it would be nice if you could get something like a 128mb X700 or better.

17inch screens are mamoth ive got a 15.4 and thats plenty big enough for games etc and centrino is fine i can play any game i want on my 2.0ghz

if ur a student would u b looking for mobility or a desktop replacement?
i have the dell 9300 and sometimes i feel like my back will just break in half, its pretty heavy, but i enjoy its wide screen 17inches, and i am throughly pleased bcoz the weight was expected, but there are laptops for students, like the dell 600m, 6000 and 700, hp's special edition lance armstrong laptop etc. u have to decide. i just use my laptop for every thing thats why appreciate the 9300.

the 128 6600s seem to be quite popular in laptops as well as the radeon 9700 id get 256 either of these is adequate

if you want to get a 256 graphics card then it would be best to get a geforce 6800 or better because anything lower will perform similarly to a 128 version
a x300 or a 9600 or a 9700 or even a x600/ x700 will not notice much differnce between 128 and 256 and the amount of dedicated memory a graphics card comes with does not necessarily depict the performance of it
