Hello

I have to write a term paper in my computer class about following subject:

Explain why computer retailers do not incluce a back-up of all software on a new computer

I have no idea what the reasons could be but I have to search for journals or books or anything about this subject and write about it.

Can you please help me with your ideas?

Thank you

The dealer or vendor is only interested in selling the product. The user decides how the product is used and what for. Will it be for gaming or simply checking the mail? Will it see accounting or other business type applications on it as well as the choice of operating systems installed. Most dealers selling complete systems receive those with the preinstalled Windows or Apple/MAC OS already installed along with softwares included with it. The recovery disk is packaged along with the disks for the installed softwares as a rule.

The dealer/vendor only sells the product and takes in returns when defects are found. They have no reason to spend time backing up softwares that the user buys along with a system or installs later. That's your headache then.
