I know this is not where this tread sould be but this seemed to have the most view to help solve my probably dumd problem Please help. HI I have a 2004 hp persario v 5000 that is now having problems connecting to the net I know it is not worth spending the money to take it in so this is the next best thing. when i start the computer it gives two short beeps and has two error codes 1"resource conflict - PCI Network controller in Slot 03 Bus:06, Device 02, Function :00" and code 2"resource conflict - PCI Network controller in Slot 04 Bus:06, Device 06, Function :00" I took the wireless card out and booted and one error went away put back in and the second one came back of course i tried ethernet directly to router and nothing. Tried switching out ram too. I possibly deleted somthing needed i cleaned out the computer recently. Thanks in advance!

Looks like the lan and wireless cards are sharing resources and is causing conflicts. If you do into device manager there should be a troubleshooter available to fix the issue.

I did that but on ethernet controller properties it comes back with code 28 it said to reinstall driver i tried and it wants me to connect to internet. and on network adapter under device manager it comes with code 10 when i trouble shoot it says uninstall then reinstall and comes back with same problem???

Uninstall each device in device manager, right click on the device and click on uninstall. Reboot the machine, let windows reinstall the drivers and see if you still have the problem. You might have to download the latest drivers from a different computer and transfer them using a usb flash drive.

I did that and same problem what would a good web site be to download those from? this os is xp. Thanks for the help! oh and would a ex hd work instead of a flash (samething just bigger right)

Look on the bottom of the laptop for the exact model number. v5000 is the general series of laptops. It will look like v5xxxyy where x's are numbers and y's are letters for example v5031EA. Once i have the exact model number i can give you the exact website.

wow this is probably dumb but i downloaded them and found them under downloads in my documents and right clicked them and send to my external then switch computers and uninstalled the wireless under device managment and trying to reinstall the one from the external and cant seem to find it??

You don't use the add hardware wizard, you run the files that were downloaded and the driver gets automatically installed.

You've got to be doing something wrong. You don't have to be connected to the net to install a driver. Do you have a usb flash drive? Download the driver install to the flash drive and then put the flash drive in the other computer and install that way. When you go to those links i gave you, you will see 2 boxes, one says install now the other says download, click on the download one and save it directly to the flash drive. Do the same with the other link and then when you go to install the driver all you do is click on those files and they will self install.
