im building my first gaming computer and i was wondering if i could put 2 radeon HD 5870 graphics cards onto an ASUS maximus 3 formula motherboard and also if a 1000w power unit would be enough for all my components. this is what im planning on getting.

intel core i7 processor
asus maximus iii formula motherboard
coolit freezone elite processor cooling unit
corsair dominator-gt 3 x 2gb ram
western digital 300 gb veloci raptor hard drive
antec1200 case
XFX radeon HD 5870 graphics cards
1000w antec power supply

this computer will be running windows 7 and will also have a 750 gb western digital caviar black hard drive. i heard about the radeon hd 5870x2 and was wondering when they might be realesed and if i could put 2 of them in my computer.

Yes you could, but it would be a complete waste of two video cards.

The P55 chipset will only run those cards at x8/x8 = choke

The board will not let those cards run to their full potential.

You'd be better off with an X58 chipset motherboard. Socket 1366

Yep, looks good to me, yes 1000 watt would be plenty, you would have quite a bit of room to upgrade even with the components your choosing.

I would personally go with the 2 5870 instead of the 5870x2 because there is no need for it lol. Im not 100% percent sure you will be able to crossfire them cause i haven't read much up on it.
