Help, with a web page my dad wants to make him

My dad would like me to make him a web page.

All he needs done is a title page which he can put some details on and thats about it. This will contain a small amount of writting and afew pictures and some contact details.

Basically I was wondering how I would go about doing the following.

-How do I get a domain name such as www.Dadswebpage.com (obviouselly not that and not a free thing like freewebs.com)
-If I write him a page using like HTML how do I go about getting this on the internet. Basically where can I host it and all that.
-I have made web pages using publisher before. If I did that again instead of HTML how easy would that be to put on the internet.

All you do is get a domain name, upload the page, and you are done. Click on the "cheap domain name" link in the top right of this forum.
 
what you need is a domain and a webhost to put it on the internet, a package such as this would do for you for webspace:

and then along with that you would need to register a domain, that hosting package includes a website builder, which would basically do all the work for you, you just need to enter the content, alternatively you could learn html here -

Well I can do the basics of HTML thats not really too hard as it was made to be symple. And if I dont know something I am pretty good at finding something that has aready been written and basically changing it for my needs.

All i said was to go to http://godaddy.com becuase IMO they are a great palce for domains and they are cheap. It comes with free ad supported hosting, but I would suggest paying for there small 4$ a month plan with no ads and tnos of space and extra's.

After I have that, is when I get confused how to link that to a site, and how to get it hosted sort of thing.

And Arm_Pit we live in England, dad prefers to deal with english companies just cos well they are closer to home. Gues it gives him a sense of security.
 
Well once you get the domain name you need to find a webhost, once you find a webhost to host it with that you like, you can go ahead and order the plan, once that is done you need to ask them(they should tell you in a e-mail or something already) what the NAMESERVERS are, then you need to log into where you got your domain from, and change the nameserveres to your host.
 
Cheers you two. Iwill get on to that tomorow. And I may aswell save him money. I mean he doesnt want anything flashy or require high bandwidth. So well £1.66 a month seems very reasonable.
