Help with .AVI

I like to make movies in windows media movie maker, but my camera I have automaticly puts everything to a quicktime format, I don't see an option anywhere to change it? Can anyone help me out with this?

Dunno if you can change it because i dont use Windows MM (have a look around the settings) but you can convert it from QT to AVI afterwards (using something like TMPGenc)

Yeah you need a QuickTime plugin http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/qtreader_for_tmpgenc.cfm for TMPGEnc http://www.tmpgenc.net/

Just pop the plugin in the default TMPGEnc folder and it will be fine opening and converting .mov files

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention then you get an .mpg file, which should you not want you can use a program like VirtualDUB http://www.virtualdub.org/ to re-encode to .avi

Of course TMPGenc will deal with AVI encodes too (if you're not keen on using a bunch of proggies). Note however VDub is so much more effective

Surely TMPGEnc only outputs to MPEG??
