My laptop (HP Pavilion zv5255us) has been a horrible experience in the past 2 years. My hard drive died twice and now the screen is totally blaank on startup. It was totally out of the blue that it decided not to start. For the first few times starting up, the power light would go on for about 5 seconds and then the computer would shut off. Now the computer just sits with the power light on and not doing anything. Is my motherboard fried??? I really ned to know if this can be fixed before school starts up or if I should just start looking for a new computer.
Thanks in advance for any help.

For the screen part..same thing happened to mine...since its a laptop and you flip it opened and closed the wires connectin the screen sometimes get damaged..thats wat was wrong with mine

So the computer does nothing? No beeps, fans, windows noises(if say just the screen's out) etc...? I mean, it's not uncommon for laptop's to have screen problems, like the backlight shorting out. Be sure that's not the case, but from how you're talking, it might be a motherboard issue. If it's out of warrenty, I'm afraid your out of luck :-/ Maybe if it still is under warrenty, you could get it fixed then sell it ;P

Nope, no sounds, the hard drive doesn't even make a sound, and I can't open the DVD drive. It will stay in this position indefinitely if I don't hold down the power button to force it off. I am having it looked at by a friend who does work on laptops but I'm afraid that the motherboard may have died as previously suggested.
Thanks for the comments and I will keep eveyone posted.
