Help with Blue Screen Error

I am trying to get a to get a computer running and am having no luck. I am getting blue screen error as follows after complete fresh install of XP Home:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Techincal Information:
*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (ox792DC006, 0x00000005, 0x00000000, 0xF84b63DA)
*** atapi.sys - Address F84B63DA base at F84B4000, DateStamp 3d6ddb04)

I have tried several different installs from various XP discs (all Vailid)
I have also done system restore, recovery, repair from the computers original recovery cd with no results.

Computer has a new good hard drive (tested & scanned)

Have also received error: Load needed DLLs for kernel

This Computers Specs:
Compaq Presario S6900NX
System Number: DW142A
AMD Athlon 3200+ (2.0 GHz) 64 bit processor
512MB PC3200 DDR CL3 Ram
160GB 7200RPM HDD
Win XP Home

This PC was bought new about 5 years ago, it was working normally before. This error started happening about 2 months ago.

Any help would be great, have have experience in PC's just need to get headed in the right direction, this one has me stumped...

I have done system restore, recovery, repair from the computers original recovery cd with no results. I have alos tried formatting & re-installing windows about 20 times from 4 other discs I have, one being a retail xp home cd. Nothing seems to get past this error...
