Hello i am fairly new to building computers.
I want to build a Really good computer for
-Image Editing (Photo Shop)
-Computer gaming - Not to much but Diablo2 my computer now lags alot so d2 cannot lag
-Lots of multitasking and surfing the internet
-Downloading Torrents (alot!)

Please help me pick out the parts i need to make a Good Computer
i live in canada not really a price range yet but keep it reasonable

Ok, but a budget, even not set in concrete would be immensely helpful, as a build can range from one of the spectrum($4-500ish USD) all the way to the other($4000+USD).

Look for Geforce 9xxx SLi and up for GFX card. Core 2 Quad Q9550 will suit multitasking needs. For torrents, it really depends on the speed of your broadband, you'll need fast download speed (3 MB/sec) and upload speed (512 KB/sec), since you should always seed torrents...

Technically talking about torrents is against forum rules:P And i would recommend an amd build for this budget range, ill post a build in a few, still working on the list;)

To answer your question, the new phenom II's are on par with the core 2 line, and in some cases a little bit better/worse. But the advantage of going AM3 is that amd has this thing for backward compatibilty, where the next line of amd chips should be supported on this mobo, while with intel, socket 775 is end of life. If you still have room in your budget, i would recommend using that towards another of the same odd for two drives, and a second kit of ram for a total of 8gb.

Also, if you need a monitor with this rig, this is a really nice 24" 1920x1200 from asus:

I'm going to lean more towards Intel if you're going to be multi-tasking alot, much better threading (IMHO). I got a dual-core Intel processor @ 2.2Ghz for under $100, and overclocked it to 3.0Ghz, as soon as I get liquid cooling for it, im overclocking further.

Well the reason i would go amd right now for this build is that socket 775 is essentially EOL, no more cpu's will be released. That means when the OP goes to upgrade, they will need a new mobo+cpu+possibly memory, whereas with an amd system you keep backwards compatibilty.

oks pretty good except i dont really like the Case
and is there a cheaper monitor?

i will be upgrading this in the future so i will take your advice

Sure, what kinda size are you looking for as far as monitor goes? 19"? 21"? That was just a higher end monitor suggestion, heres a few suggestions:

20" 1600x900:

21.5" 1920x1080- This is 1080p, also known as full HD, so if you have an xbox 360/ps3/etc with hdmi out you can hook it up and play your games in full hd:

As far as case goes, how about a coolermaster HAF 932, you like this one?:

Or, an Xclio Blackhawk Advanced:

NZXT makes some great cases, but that case there might not have as good of air flow as you would want, what are you looking for in a case? Preferably side panel/ non?

It shouldnt be too loud, if it is too loud for your taste though it wouldnt be hard to swap in some lower speed/noise fans or to put the fans on a fan controller to slow em down;)

Can some one please help me?
Mainly with my hard drives
should i get one big one or two smaller ones.
