Hi im new here and hope to learn alot XD
Anyways im in the market for a new computer bc mine is about 5 years old and extremely slowwww....So i was looking at the xps 630 on dell's outlet website and i can get a really nice system for 800 and under....However i have one maybe two questions...I can get the e8400 proccessor (6MB,3.0 GHz, 1333FSB) although im sure you all knew that or the q6600 quad core, 6gbs of RAM, a 640gb hd (7200RPM) and other good stuff for 780$ which processor would be better without overclocking or with a little bit of overclocking im not going to have a huge fan so i wont be oc'n THAT much... im not looking to play crysis or anything crazy like that but id like to play counter strike which isnt terribly graphic intensive and possibly COD 4 at an acceptable frame rate but the question i have is what graphics card do u think would be better for games like this the 512MB RADEON ATI HD 3870 or the 512mb nVidia 9800gt or even possibly the ATI radeon HD 4850 however thats a lil more expensive

out of the ATI cards I would go with the 4850. Great cards. Not sure about nVidia cards though...

You would probably be better off building your own system. Pre-built tend to be only decent. As for the CPU it depends on what you want to do with it. If you are heavily multitasking then I would go with the q6600. I really is a great CPU. The e8400 is good too it really comes down to just making a choice.

Oh, and please, please, use punctuation...

Why does everyone say E8400???? JUST GET E8500 for the extra 10 bux... are you that poor that you can afford 100 dollar processor instead of 110?(prices may vary)

A lot of people in here will always recommend building your own computer. I understand if you don't want to or don't have the time. Dell computers are great for the price, I had mine pre-ordered about 6 months before it was released. I have had a Dell XPS 400 for 4 years now and has never even crashed once....ran solid for a half a decade now. I use nothing but Dell laptops for work and they are the most reliable laptops you can buy. We put a beating on them and never had a problem.

If you want to get the Dell instead of building I would get the Q6600 and the ATI 4850. The E8400 is an Intel classic and will score a little higher in benchmarks...but the Quad Core is the way to go. Software developers are really putting time and money into developing programs that run on multi thread engines. The Quad Core will run a game just fine. As for the graphics card...the ATI 4850 is a great card and will out perform the 9800 GT. The 9800 GT is a great card but the 4850 has an advantage in almost every program.

Again....I would also recommend building a computer, get what you want and more for the money. You also will learn a lot from your first build.

Have you looked at the Dell XPS 420 series? You can also get the Quad Core and a 9800GT for a little bit less money. Maybe get the bottom basket graphics card and just buy your own and install it?

If you even take a half a minute to do a little research for some one you might not post a non-sense comment like this. The E8500 is not even an option from Dell. Where did that comment even come from anyway? He is not buying the processor from Newegg...he is asking a question about Dell computers and his options.
