Hey! I'm planning on building a computer, and I was wondering if all these parts were compatible with eachother. I've never built a computer before, but I watched a video and these were the parts they listed. I just wanted to make sure I got it right.

CPU-AMD FX 6300
RAM-G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1866
GPU-MSI Radeon HD 7950
Motherboard-ASUS M5A99FX
HDD-Western Digital WD Blue 1TB
Case-Cooler Master Haf 912
DVD Drive- Black SATA 24X DVD Burner
PSU-CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650

I was also wondering what type of cooling unit i should get.

Yes the parts are all compatible, personally i prefer seagate hard drives over western digital.

What will you be using this system for and did you have certain budget in mind ?

Corsair CX750M with promotion at newegg, which make it $50

CPU - I believe FX-4300 is faster when come to gaming. But you can always overclock FX-6300 anyway.

HDD - you choose the wrong one. you need 3.5" with 7200 RPM

case - could find something with USB 3.0

Edit - you could throw a SSD in if you got cash

The FX-4300 and the FX-6300 is exactly the same, except the amounts of cores. They pretty much cost the same, so always go for the 6300.

I would suggest a Seagate Barracuda 1TB, unless you are going to go for the WD Black 1TB.

Try and look at the Bitfenix Shinobi, it has USB3, it's pretty cheap and have great airflow. I also like the design very much.
(I've built PCs in both HAF 912 and Shinobi, HAF has a bit better airflow, but worse dust-proofing)
