hey all. i went to go turn on my brothers computer this morning. when i turned it on everything was going fine until it came to the part saying that windows did not shut down properly. but i remeber doingitjust fine. so i thought nothing of it and chose the option "start windows with the last known working configuratuon" as it was going through the windows xp loading screen the computer restarted and went bacl to the screen that windows didnt turn off right. so this time i chose start windows normally....same thing...restarted. i chose all the other options too...start with safe mode, safe mode with control, etc. butit keeps doing the same thing. what can it be. how can i have it start windows properly again?? please help

i had the problem a year ago and it was something on the motherboard that had to be sorted in the BIOS but the BIOS was locked i did not know how to flash the motherboard i chucked it.

This happened with a older computer when the partition crashed or a Windows file crashed (Defragmentation + thunder...).

You can try resetting the CMOS by removing the silver battery.

Usually running a windows repair from your windows cd will fix an error like this. It's usually a master boot record problem, running a repair will fix it.
