Ok, this is my first post, have found something strange on my computer and have fingers crossed someone here can help. Got viruses a couple of days ago (since removed) but they have buggered up my computer, being that now it wont read my usb devices, cannot system restore, and will not update from microsoft. I found something odd while looking around my computer, in the section "services" and then "automatic updates" which I double click on, there is a bit that says "Path to executable" but it starts with an "F" instead of an "S". will cut and paste so you can see. %fystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs so of course when I click on the start button to beging the update, an error comes up saying "Error 2: the system cannot find the file specified" so how the hell do I change "fystemRoot" to "systemRoot" or is it just that my computer is stuffed now? HELP!!!

Lol Vectrex! I had one of those when I was a kid! rofl

Anyway, does your Task Manager work?

I've found that once the virus goes in and unconfigures all that stuff,
that it's best to either attempt a repair using the disk, or a complete
reinstall.
