Help with .dat files..Wolfenstien 3D

Im working with 2 computers here. My pc running xp with a floppy drive and dvr and my new laptop with Vista and dvr. Im trying to take my old floppy disk games such as wolfenstien 3D and install it onto my laptop. I have no problem copying the files from the floppy to the dvd but my problem starts when try to run or install the game on my computer it comes up as setup.dta and vista sais it does not work with Win32 aplications or something. Any advice??????? How do you get old stuff converted over.....besides buying the game on CD as is...

You kidding? Vista might work with most games...but i wouldnt trust it to work with anything off a floppy. Any game that is based on DOS is not going to run on vista. Your problem is the media from which you are trying to run the app, its the app you are trying to run.

Forget trying to run it in Windows alone! For any old dos game you need a virtual dos window like that seen with DOSBOX! http://www.dosbox.com/ See if the screen here looks a little familiar.

Nothing like actually hearing an old classic dos game in 5.1 surround sound!
