Help with deciding on video card

im planing on buy a new computer and i have to clue on what kind of video card to get, this will be my first gaming computer and i was looking at ati radeon x1900xt or going with the gforce 7900gtx, or should i get a sli or crossfire card, are they worth the money? and yea what are differences between getting a sli or crossfire or just the normal single card

I would go with the 7900gtx. IMO, buying one most expensive card would be better than going with two less expsive one. if you go sli or crossfire, you'll most likely see a performance boost when you start playing games at high resoltuion and with hdr/aa on.

yea the 7900 will last for like 1 or 2 years
after that you can get another one(which will be cheaper than now) and SLI
but one good card is better than 2 cheaper cards

Add one more point for the 7900gtx. It's the best card out for most games.

Get a good card now and a SLI/Crossfire mobo now, then go SLI/Crossfire later...
