Help with Freezing!

Didn't know where to post this.

So the last couple of days my school laptop has been freezing every 20-30 seconds, even more frequently when i'm playing games. I've had it for almost a year now and it hasn't done this before.

I'm worrying it's the CPU or maybe the RAM since it's not only when i play games.

Something that's wierd is that the fan is always on full blast(like if i've been playing games for hours but without it heating up) since a week back and i don't know why.
The fan is not on full blast anymore if i restart the laptop but it just start blasting after about 5 minutes of use.

So has anyone encountered this before that can help me?

Specs:
Intel Core i5-2410M CPU 2.3GHz x2
4GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 3000(If i go to graphics settings that's what it says but on the sticker on the laptop it says ATI and i have the catalyst control center installed)
Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit

I've tried updating drivers and turning it off.
I don't have any virus program atm.

If the fan is on high speed most of the time then its getting close to being overheated and will shut down. You may want to get a can of compressed air and blow out the exhaust ports on the laptop.

And why don't you have any virus program installed? That is just asking for trouble right there. At least download and run malwarebytes to make sure you don't have any malware on your system.

1. Just a regular can or something i have to buy? I don't really have any money do to buy it with.

2. As i said it's my school computer, and I'm not allowed to download/install any programs than those already on the computer. I uninstalled it because it was slowing the computer down massively.

But the thing with the fan is that it just starts to blast full on without reason. The computer doesn't overheat or anything. Doesn't matter if i have my window open and let cool air in my room so that my computer gets chilled.

If it was overheating i would notice as it gets warmer around the part where the fan is but if anything, it's getting colder with the fan doing this.

Sorry for writing so much ;P

Yeah I would def make sure you don't sit your laptop on your bed/pants for a long period of time. (Precaution) Also if its a school laptop I would suggest taking it to the school's System Administrator to do some checks.

I never have it on my bed/pants and yes i guess i have to talk to them at school :/

The wierd thing is that i just started it 3 days ago in the morning like every day and all of a sudden it was like this. The day before when i shut it off it was just like normal.

Oh ok, any recent programs been installed? The reason I said to try your schools System Administrator is that he would be able to run virus/spyware scan(s).

No new programs that i know of. I'm the only one using this computer. I've been uninstalling some games and programs(Yes i have installed programs before but that was long before this happened) today thinking the space left on the computer might be the problem. It was around 30-40GB left out of ~280GB total. No difference(Programs unnecisarilly uninstalled in other words)

The wierd thing is i just spent some time playing Modern Warfare 2 with a friend and the freezing seems to wear off the longer i play as if the computer needs to be warmed up. At first it got really warm but then it cooled off a little bit and the freezing seemed to disappear. I'll try again to play a match or two of MW2 in the morning and see if the problem is still there and/or if it just needs to warm up. I'll also run a virus scan during the night with Avast just to see if there's anything there.

I'll post the results of the scan and after playing a match or two.

Not sure but the problem may be caused by some viruses or malwares or something like that I would recommend Kaspersky product the most expensive one that will work on your laptop.

Also as johnb35 recommend I recommend you do blow out whatever is in the vents or whatever with an air can [go to stores like RadioShack for recommendations I recommend].

Best of luck to you :) : )

Alright so i went to my schools "Tech Expert" and i got told that the HDD had crashed so it's going to get fixed tomorrow.

I have absolutely no idea how it could've crashed as i haven't done anything other to it than what i usually do which is schoolwork and play Modern Warfare 2 :/

Also it crashed right after my last post and i'm now writing from my desktop computer.
