help with hard drive speeds

hey, im about to order parts for a new comp; here are the core specs im lookin at:

-gigabyte ga-k8n
-athlon64 3200
-512 mb pny
-msi geforce 6600 256 mb

in other words, a cheap, low end, comp to play older and some new games decently.

but anyway, i was just wondering, in general, what would be the better choice for a hard drive, assuming they were from the same company: a 10000rpm ATA-133, or a 7200 rpm sata 3 gb/s ? would the extra rpm override any gain from the faster transfer speed, or would the slower ata-133 connection be a larger resistance? or, for that matter, at this point in time, would there be any significant change from a sata 3 gb/s to a ata-133 if they were both 7200 rpm?

They have ATA-133 drives at 10,000RPMs? I thought only SCSI and SATA drives were 10K... Anyway, here's something to think about. Probably some of the fastest drives around, the WD Raptors, still run at SATA150. If it's not clear enough, the interface REALLY doesn't matter... ATA133 would be plenty. SATA is great, but we're no where NEAR the SATAII speeds.
 
question is, if u are using a computer to play older games and new ones decently, do u need the top of the line HDD?
 
The average price margin between an IDE and SATA drive is only a few dollars, so you should be comparing a 10K IDE (if they make them) to a 10K SATA.
 
yea, sry guys, i had my facts mixed up --- they dont make 10,000 rpm ide's. so i guess the question is just, at this point in time, will my system have any significant increase from ata-133 to sata-150 or sata 3 gb/s? im just tryin to keep somewhat of a tight budget

You'd be just fine with plain ol' IDE(ATA-133) I got 216Mbps with my Raptor RAID, so not even full SATA150 per drive... So as I mentioned above, the drives don't even meet the max speeds of most interfaces.
