Help with Internet connection.

Hi everyone, I am new here and new to the world of linux, well at least in private use. I cannot seem to connect to the internet, I use YAST and configured it auto. I have swapped PCI ethernet cards to ensure I do not have hardware failure. I have also disable the firewall and any security certificates that firefox has. BTW the GUI is Gnome, if anyone needed to know. Help, I would like to actually start using it! I am using OpenSUSE 10.1 BTW. I have my internet connected through a netgear router (with updated firmware).

well since you say you've configure YAST to auto, it should detect your network and connect. was your pc assigned a normal ip address ?
