Help with Laptop temperature

Hello, when I leave my computer on idle the laptop is about 50c-56c.

Yet, when I start up Firefox and use it the temperature actually drops to 40c. How can it heat up more when I am not doing anything on it, yet when I use it and run programs like Firefox the temperature decreases?

I have been monitoring it with Core Temp and Speedfan and both are reporting the drop in temperature. This seems weird. I am concerned.

I have a dual core processor.
 
That is odd...unless there is a vent that is plugged up when the laptop is shut that heats it up and then when you open it it allows more air inside of it
