I just setup my Lynksys router to be secure. Setup went fine and all computers on network are connected fine. The problem is the advisor says i have to sign in as admin to modify or view network stations. Im running windows 7 and im ther only person on this machine. How do i log in as admin? I had the router set up as a secure network in the past and had no problems but i was running xp then. Thanks.

ill suggest a good program for you network magic it is by Linksys google it

it shows computers on the network options to change wireless settings and many more useful tools including network usage and bandwidth help with connection issues, and if you install it on all the computers in your network you can share files printers and control internet access

also if you could post the model number of the router

The other computers on the network belong to my wife and daughter so theres really no need for sharing files. I just want to be able to fully use the lynksys advisor but it wont let me. ...or windows 7 wont let me.

im assuming that your talking about LELA (Linksys Easy Link Advisor) right??
if so there is no password to get on to it only for the trend micro security and the my account that is on the LELA page is for registering the Linksys product
so i have no idea what the password for try uninstalling it and reinstalling

here check out this page its comparisons between LELA and Network Magic

I have a password for the network. im not sure if the admin its refering to is for lynksys or win 7 . Im not real impressed with windows 7 and its not easy to navigate. How would i sign into admin so i can moniter the network? Ive never had to sign in as admin to monitor the stations before so why now? and how do i do this?

ok now it sounds like a security problem with win 7 when it asks for the password does the screen go darker and you get like a ding kind of sound, if so its a security issue with win7 now i havent used 7 so i dont know the sounds and how it reacts to security issues like vista does so im just out on a limb here

try this right click on the short cut of any program and see if run as administrator is in that list if so click it and if it asks for a password your problem is that your running on a USER account Not Admin so do a search in the start menu if win7 even has that lol look for user accounts click on it should come up with a different window should have your account picture name account type and whether or not its password protected if it says standard user that is the problem youve got to change your account type

if that doesnt work youve got to get on linksys tech support or call them

ill think on it over night n get some shut eye ill check back when i get up

hope it helps...
