Help with my computer

i hope this is the right place for this, i couldnt really find a better spot. Anyway, a few days ago i got a new case for my birthday, and i decided to move all my stuff from my old computer (an HP about 1/2 year old) to this new case ( a Thermaltake Armor Series VA8003BWS).
so i put everything in, and then the power supply isnt working. its light was flashing green instead of the solid green. so i go through unplugging stuff to find the problem, and it turns out to be in the motherboard connector. eventually i got that working. but when i go to run my harddrive, it sends me to the normal HP boot screen, for longer than normal i might add, and the screens backlight goes on and off a few times on a black screen, and it starts over at the boot screen. i cannot use a keyboard with it, cause its not taking in any commands. i already tried resetting CMOS with the jumpers, and that didnt work. the reason i mentioned the power supply part, was because my theory is that something in wrong with it, but i cant be sure

if you have any ideas, or need any more information please help. i really would like to get my computer up and running again. thanks in advance

It could just be as simple as plugging wires into the wrong place. If you have the manual for the mobo etc. you could look through that and make sure everything is plugged in the right place :).

i did discharge myself before

when i put it in without the harddrive, it gives me a no disc error. and i have both a sat and ide. the ide has ubuntu on it, and when i load that, it gets to the loading GRUB page, and doesnt go farther

and sadly i dont have the mobo instructions, because it came as one package

Try entering BIOS and 'Load Optimal Setting' or 'Load Default Setting'. Also, you mentioned SATA and IDE. Most MoBo's will have to be configured to run both at the same time. Have you made certain both HDDs are recognized in BIOS?

i would try that, but its not recognizing my keyboard or something, because everytime i hit the setup key when i can, nothing happens

oh and yeah, i have run both harddrives on my computer before perfectly fine

Odd indeed.

Random troubleshooting brainstorm...

Is your Keyboard USB or PS/2? If USB, try a different port?
Did you scratch or scrape anything during the move? (MoBo, CPU, RAM)
Did you put the SATA drive back in the exact MoBo SATA port it was before?
I know you said you double-checked all the wires, but have you triple-checked? I'm not doubting what you said, but you mentioned you didn't have the MoBo manual, so an overlook is possible.

i have a usb and a ps2 one. the ps2 worked for a second, but doesnt seem to be anymore.
the SATA is in the exact same port
i triple checked this morning. nothing looks wrong there
and the only thing is i had my dad screw in the motherboard, and when i went to unscrew it yesterday to check for cracks, it was screwed in so incredibly tight. i dont know if that would have done anything, but who knows

It's possible it was screwed in too tight, yes, but it's hard to tell how tight 'too tight' is without seeing it/unscrewing it myself. If it was tight unscrewing, chances are it was probably tight while it was being screwed it in; any chance a screw(s) were 'forced' in order for them to be screwed completely in? If that's the case, the Motherboard PCB may have stretch/cracked and weakened/broke a connection. Did he use standoffs between the Board the the Case?

yeah he used the standoffs. and it was tight, but it went though all the holes. i just completely disconnected everything, and ill tell you what happens when i plug it all in

hopefully it will work
EDIT: didnt work. nothing is different :(
