Help with my first build

hi, today i finally built my first computer!! :)
however i am having some issues.
for some reason my computer can't boot up normally, so i have to boot it into safe mode. Once in there i have begun to install the drivers. i updated all of the ones i could but for some reason there are two "PCI" drivers that have a question mark next to them and i can't update them. I have tried using both cds that came with my HD4850.
I have also tried installing everything from the cd that came with the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P) and i am supposed to do an express install, however i am finding it difficult to do so because i get a message saying "wrong volume, please insert volume 721" or something like that (not sure about the numbers) but i only got one cd with the motherboard

I am using an old hard drive from my old computer for the operating system (i have a new one in my computer too but not putting anything on that cos i will get windows 7 for it) and i know that it works in other computer because i have swapped it into other computers before.

extremely sorry about the massive post!

cheers!

What kind of hard drive are you trying to install onto?

What OS are you trying to install?

I would go ahead and install on the good, faster drive, and just reformat when you get Win 7 later.

Thank you for the quick reply,
sorry, i don't think i made much sense.
i'm not trying to install an OS the old hard drive already has one.
the issue is i can't install things from the Gigabyte cd that came with my mother board.
And i think i need to install those things because my computer only works in safe mode.
When i put the cd in and leave it for a while it tells me that i have the wrong volume and to put in volume 721 or something. But my mobo only came with one cd so i'm not sure whats happening.
I am currently trying to download some of the drivers and stuff of the gigabyte website but if i can get the cd working that would be great!

hope i cleared up everything.

Again,
thank you for the speedy reply!

You're trying to boot from a hard drive, that had Windows installed on it from a different computer?

That's your problem.

why though?
i swapped it around on other computers and it worked fine.
like when one of my computers stuffed up i just took it out and put it into another one and i had no issues.

Your luck has run out. It should not work at all, and you're lucky to get into safe mode.

Try uninstalling ALL drivers, then reinstalling them again.

i'll give your idea a shot, and if that doesn't work i'm just gonna have to wait until i get windows 7.

thanks so much for your help i appreciate it soo much!

have a nice day and a happy new year!
(i think you live in the US, so you have to wait longer than i do! ;P)

Yea like Bodaggit said you're luck has just run out. Sometimes they will switch over just fine sometimes they will have problems like yours. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. You could install linux on it that way you would have a usable operation system until you get W7.
