It was using a legacy file system limit, which is why I asked if you were using FAT 32 file systems, which is limited to 8 character names. To get around that, you see things like xxxxxx~1. They cut off the last two characters and add the ~1. I can see that most everything else supports longer character names.
So to me that stuck out a bit. I am not familiar with the program and everything I search for it doesn't say if its legit or malicious. However, it raised my suspicions, and whenever there is any doubt there is no doubt in my mind.
